MRs. O'Brien

English Language Arts

The poet Robert Frost once said, "I am not a teacher, but an awakener," and awakening students to the world around them through reading novels, analyzing poetry and reenacting Shakespeare plays is what Mrs. O'Brien aims to do. Having moved from Maryland in 2013 and joining the GSOTA family in 2016, she is very passionate about all things ELA and is always striving to find ways to connect literature and writing into real life applications. She is also an avid tea drinker and EdTech Nerd.
Mrs. O'Brien holds Dual Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology and Communication Arts from Salisbury University as well as a M.S. in Psychology from Walden University. She is also a Level 2 Google Certified Educator and is pursuing Google Trainer/Coach and ISTE certifications this Spring.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons (also GSOTA students), critters (beagles Amelia and Harper and cats Gryffin and Brutus), reading, traveling, learning new techie tools, and most of all...napping.

Mrs. Rothenberg

This is Mrs. Rothenberg’s first year at GSOTA, and she teaches 7th and 8th grade science. She is thrilled to be here and loves sharing her passion for science and the natural world with her students. Prior to GSOTA, Mrs. Rothenberg previously taught 7th grade science and has also worked as an environmental consultant.
Mrs. Rothenberg is a South Florida native, and in her free time, she enjoys RV’ing with her family and two dogs, snorkeling, spending time at the beach, and horseback riding.

ELA & Social Studies

I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida and went to college at Florida Atlantic University where I got my degree in education. I have been teaching for a few years now but this is my first year at GSOTA, in which I am extremely happy to be able to get to know the wonderful young minds at this school and work with talented educators.
If I am not working, I am usually at home with a good book and a cat, or two, on my lap. I enjoy a good binge watching session on streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu. I have recently been diagnosed with Celiac Disease in which it has forced me to become an excellent cook. I can make a wide range of food into a gluten free version and make it taste as good, if not better, than the original version.
I look forward to getting to know the GSOTA community and helping students be successful.

7th-8th Math, Algebra I

A Dean's Fellow with over 17 years of teaching experience, Ms. Mader's most cherished aspect of teaching is running along students to help them reach their goals and dreams, as well as to offer a safe place to make mistakes and try new methods in math (and life), in order to become successful on their terms! She often finds herself asking all students: Where are we? Where are we going? How do we get there? Ms. Mader believes a great classroom is the one that is teacher-directed and student-led. The outcomes are most rewarding to her!
Her academic degrees from the University of Miami and Duquesne University, plus her diverse experience, have deepened her understanding of people internationally, as she has facilitated Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University countless times, advised people of all ages in personal and business matters, and has worked and researched in countless arenas. In addition, she highly values the community she lives in, as Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens (and Italy) are her "happy places." She is the proud owner of her private tutoring business, as well as a Florida-licensed realtor. Her greatest passions are loving people, commissioning leaders, songwriting, writing/professional editing, and innovating, not to mention her 13 nieces and nephews! She believes that faithfulness, vision, perseverance, humor, research, and willingness to change and think outside of the box are the keys to fruitful life!

Technology Arts

Mr. Joseph has been an Artist for ages. Literally – like the Stone Ages, Metallic Ages . . . you know, ages. It was rough for him in those early years. Imagine how difficult it was to create a beautiful painting in the dark. His quest to be a great artist continues, as he’s always a student of art, though he’s never been a great student in general, never listening, being free-spirited always doing what he wanted. Perhaps that’s why they call him the Professor, that or the fact that he actually was one for a near 20 years. Mr. Joseph never boasts that as an artist he can do everything, but it’s pretty well known; he’s successful, musically adept, creatively poetic, for fun studies quantum physics and is a published author. With a photographic memory and affinity for perfection, Mr. Joseph is an absolute professional. He makes great art into exceptional art and keeps everyone on their toes (or running for cover). His hobbies include climbing trees with his cat, succeeding, dreaming in lucidity and loathing waking up in the morning.
